Facebook

If i'm on facebook when I'm 45 please remind me that I'm 45 and shouldn't be on facebook! I saw a man on the train checking his facebook who was clearly not a young chap. Why does that freak me out?

Anyone else have a facebook age limit?

I feel like myspace needs to go before facebook. Seems to be getting younger people every day

Another summer and.....

Summer is going by way to fast. I've been keeping sort of a photo blog. I've been keeping it separate from this blog so people can still check out pictures with out reading more personal blog posts (not that I'm posing super juicy stuff here). So feel free to stop by and check out some of the pictures.

I've also been really busy hence the lack of blog updates but you'll be happy to know that it's fun busy stuff like Todd and Meg's wedding which is coming up and hanging out with my brother.

P.S. I bought AFI tickets for October!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!!

I lay me down tonight

According to Jade Puget's blog, AFI's new album will be out September 29th. I'm so excited! I love looking forward to an albums release.

I have many fond musical memories listening to AFI such as that time I made Ashley play Girls Not Grey on repeat back from New Hampshire because I insisted it made me not throw up.

I had one to many white russian's that night.....

Busy girl

I've been pretty busy the past few weeks but with fun things (mostly).

I went to Nantucket and although it wasn't the best weather we did get one day of sun and still had a blast.

I had a 4th of July BBQ at my place which started out great but ended not so well due to some behavior of people I consider my friends but after this situation I'm pretty upset. It's a shame because it was great up until that point. I really shouldn't have to babysit people when they drink. We're adults now.

I've been spending a good deal of time with the new boyfriend. He made a mix on his ipod which was very sweet of him. He also likes to surprise me with concert tickets.

The rain has let up a bit but now it's thunderstorms again today.

My brother comes back to visit in less than two weeks! I miss him.

Cabin Fever

The rain continues. I heard on the radio that we've only had five rainless days in June so far. I'm going away to Nantucket this weekend so I'm praying for some sun but it doesn't look good. I've invited my new boyfriend along. I'm excited for him to meet everyone and it will be fun having him there.

I'm done dog sitting too. Nine very long days. My cat was like why hasn't this thing left yet! Dog sitting when it's raining all the time is no fun for me or the dog.

This is how I feel right now.

Candy Hearts

This is honestly one of my favorite songs ever! Candy Hearts by Tofer Brown. Spend the $99 and buy the song off amazon or itunes. I wish I could find the whole song on youtube because it's really a beautiful duet. You can hear the whole song on his myspace. I have no idea why this song has such an effect on my but it gets me teary eyed every time I hear it.

summer play list

So I was trying to come up with a summer play list and it pretty much consists of all Lady Ga Ga. I'm going to go with it.
She is out of her mind but I love it. Check out this interview with rolling stone.

Speaking of minds. I don't know where mine has been lately. I've been quite the scatter brain and I need to snap out of it. It puts me in this strange mood where I become hyper-sensitive. I analyze everything and think about things too much and I feel scattered.

How did I get from summer play lists to my moods? Any song suggestions for my summer play list are welcome.

I'm already in weekend mode

Anime Boston has descended upon work. There is a large convention center attached to the mall where my building is also attached to. For some reason everyone at work keeps asking me if I plan on going. No I do not plan on going. I don't watch Anime (ok I did watch sailormoon back in like 1996) and I don't dress in a costume unless it's Halloween. I have no idea why they think I would go. People seem to be having fun with it so good for them.

My boss keeps joking with me that he's going to dress up and head down to the convention.

Anyways ... I get out at 3 today and will be heading out for a night on the town with Melissa and her friend from Florida, Pam. I thought it was Friday yesterday so I'm dying to get out of here and drink some bud light lime.

Have a great memorial day!

Where have I been?

I've been neglecting my poor little blog. I feel like I've been really busy lately but can pin point exactly why. I think it's time for a bullet list update

  • Started reading Anna Karenina again. I'm actually enjoying it this time. I stopped reading it a few times before. It just took me a few chapters to get into it.
  • Started watching Harper's Island. It's pretty good except everyone is an idiot and doesn't question why people are suddenly missing. Also if my friends left me in the woods in a bad situation as much as these guys do I would get some new friends.
  • Work is crazy. I've been getting slammed. The summer is our slower season but I haven't seen a slow down yet.
  • Season finale of Lost is tonight! Who is Jacob? I vote for Jack's dad. Who knows this show is crazy.
  • I have two camping trips, two birthdays, a random cookout, and a trip to the Cape coming up from now to June. I'm sure this list will grow.
  • Finally getting around to uploading all of my music back onto my ipod. I totally bought the Sound of Music soundtrack
  • I've been sucked in to Daisy of Love. Please send help.
  • I've seen Kill Bill 3 times in the past week.
So that's what's been going on at the moment. I'm heading to a dive bar for a birthday where they supposedly have bowling on the roof? We shall see.

A tiny obsession

I have this thing where I love to see how other people decorate their bedrooms. Hence why I am a member of a bedroom community on livejournal. It gives me lots of fun ideas even though I hate my apartment so much that I don't really care to decorate but when I end up buying a condo I'm going crazy and doing it up my style. In the mean time I'll just continue my bedroom envy.

I'm was also addicted to the house tours on the Domino magazine website (RIP Domino). I hope they still have that now that the magazine is gone. I think I missed my calling...interior decorating!

I'm back

I went to Connecticut and took a surprise trip to NYC. It was a fun trip and I took so many pictures I don't know what to do with them all! We went to the Met, Times Square and took a trip to the aquarium in Connecticut. I had a good host.

The dashboard melted but we still had the radio

I'm off to Connecticut with my cousin. This weekends weather is going to be amazing! I'm going to visit my old job today before I leave. I miss them and it's been almost three years. I miss the people not the actual job.

I'm also eating dinner for breakfast. I love it!

AAA is laughing at me

I ran out of gas on Easter and had to call AAA. I felt like such an idiot! My gas light didn't come on. I knew I was low but I depend on you gas light! I let myself day dream too much and get distracted easily so I really wasn't paying that much attention until it was too late.

I had Easter brunch with my mother, her boyfriend and some of his family. It was nice except for the clown that we're pretty sure is a serial killer. He was creepy and I'm not normally someone who finds clowns creepy.

I ended up getting delayed on the way home due to the gas situation and the parking lot known as the Mass Pike so I missed the finale of Rock of Love Bus. I actually don't like either of the final two and I still can't believe I watch this garbage. I need help.

I also must mention that while talking with my friend Cullen on aim I found out that his middle name is Edward. I will never let him live this down EVER!

One peep to rule them all

In celebration of Easter and Lord of the Rings I give you Lord of the Peeps.

Who knew peeps were not only tasty but good actors!

April showers

It's been raining a lot which is no surprise since it's April. I'm just happy that it's not snowing. I tried to make it to the super market yesterday but it was just nasty out and I stayed inside watching How I Met Your Mother.

It's not raining out today but it's still cloudy. I felt like it was a cup of tea day so I made a cup after lunch.

On to a completely different topic, I'm suddenly getting Rolling Stone magazine in the mail. I haven't signed up for it and I don't see any charges for it on my credit cards. Very strange but please keep them coming!

Big Wednesday night

Tonight I'm hanging out on the couch with my cat watching Lost.

I'm excited! That's because I'm a dork about Lost.

I have a crown of pipe cleaners

Wow I am so sleepy today. I think my body is still recovering from the lack of sleep this past weekend. I definitely feel like I am too old to be staying up until 5 a.m. I even missed Rock of Love last night because I was too tired. Please don’t hold it against me for watching that crap. I know it’s horrible but it’s a guilty pleasure.

I saw I Love You Man on Saturday and it was just as good as I expected. Jason Segel is really growing on me. I like him on How I Met Your Mother but I loved him in I Love You Man and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. I hope he continues to do movies. And who doesn’t love Paul Rudd? I would like more Paul Rudd movies please. I feel like they’re friends in real life. I have no idea if they really are but I hope so. I can’t stop saying “slappin the bass man”. I amuse myself so easily.

What else did I do this weekend? We ran into Edward Cullen. I didn’t even realize it was him. I was dancing and then I turned around and he was standing there right on the edge of the dance floor. I think I said something like “hey, don’t feel like dancing?” He laughed and said something that I can’t remember because my brain was too busy freaking out because I just realized that it was Edward Cullen dude. Melissa comes out of nowhere because she realized it was him. I sort of move away and let her talk to him. I know how much she likes him so I’m a good friend and hang back. I think at one point she asked me to smell him because he smells good. I told him that I’m sure he smells good but I’m not going to smell him. I was a little more sober than she was. I don’t think he was interested in any of the ladies. There were a bunch of girls hitting on him and he had no interest. Maybe he is gay Edward Cullen? I spent the rest of the night trying to cheer up my friend. Rejection happens and it sucks, I know.

On Saturday night I saved a guy from two cougars. If I’m pushing fifty and dressing like I’m twenty I would hope my friends would have a little intervention. The two ladies kept asking him to take pictures of them. They were posing myspace style and I was trying very hard not to laugh. Hey, at least they’re having fun but this guy just wanted to eat his dinner and drink his beer. The guy made eye contact with me and I could tell that he wanted help so I went over and asked if he wanted to sit with us. He said “Thank you! Yes! I couldn’t tell if you could see me. I was going to start mouthing help.” He was a nice guy and fun to talk to and the cougars found another guy so they were happy.

I went to visit Ashley for her birthday on Sunday. We pretty much ate every fried thing imaginable. Honestly, I could eat mozzarella sticks every day. Fried cheese is the best! I made her a birthday crown out of pipe cleaners. I forgot all about pipe cleaners until I saw them in Target.

We played some wii fit and the wii asked me if I often trip over my own two feet when I walk. Wow, thanks wii fit.

I got home, passed out, and now it’s Monday. That was quite the post! It was quite the weekend though.

You'll never see what you've done to me

Songs I can't stop listening to.

Poker Face - Lady GaGa
Gives You Hell - All American Rejects
That's Not My Name - The Ting Tings

I really love the video for "Gives You Hell". Tyson's facial expressions crack me up.

Dogs and cats oh my

I'm going to Connecticut in April for a weekend of fun and debauchery (I mean they go hand in hand). My cousin grew up there and I'm tagging along to visit some friends. They usually come to visit us in Boston so it's only fair that we make a trip to visit them.

Riley is going home today. I stepped in pee this morning while blow drying my hair. I wish dogs could use a litter box. I also got woken up in the middle of the night because the dog thought 3 a.m. was a good time to try to dig a hole in my rug. It is NOT a good time Riley. In fact it is never a good time for that. I feel like my cat just looks at him like "Seriously, you are quite annoying and I can't believe you would even attempt to sit on my humans lap. Learn your place dog." My cat is like an old man, bum hip and all. If he had a cane he would totally use it.

So long Galactica

I spent my Friday night with some friends and Chinese food watching the series finale of Battlestar Galactica. I'm sad the series is over but I'm satisfied with how it ended. I definitely got a little teary eyed at the end. I don't know how you couldn't get choked up watching the final scene between Adama and Roslin. I have to say my favorite part was when Tyrol found out what happened to Cally. I had been waiting for that confrontation for a long time.

I keep telling people to watch this show. Don't blow it off as some dorky sci-fi show. It has some of the best acting and writing on tv and you're missing out if you don't at least give it a shot.

I'm dog sitting this weekend. Boo seems to be doing ok with a dog around. I suppose it helps that my cat is three times the size of Riley. I like taking him out for walks. Its a good way to tucker him out so he doesn't keep coming up to me with his squeaky pig to play. I was trying to do some yoga and I kept finding a squeaky pig in my face or under me on the mat.

The rest of my weekend is up in the air which is kind of nice. I'm use to my weekends being busy so it's nice that I don't actually have to do anything tonight.

I have internet again

Between issues with my laptop and an unexpected internet outage at my work yesterday I haven't been able to get online. But now I'm back!

I'm a little tired today from a mini St. Patrick's Day outing but at least I'm not hungover. I made sure to only have two drinks and call it a night. I think seeing how wasted people were at the bar was a good deterrent.

I realized last night that I have a habit of singing out loud when I hear a song I like. I don't sing very loud but if you're close enough to me you'll probably hear it. It's almost a subconscious thing, I don't even realize I'm doing it.

Last night at the Tavern, Creep by Radiohead came on. Without even thinking I start singing along, not paying attention to what's going on around me. I look over at the bar and one of the bartenders is looking at me and starts laughing and says something like "nice". I suddenly realize what I was doing and laugh and tell him he wasn't suppose to hear that.

I suppose I could have a worse habit and at least it was Radiohead and not Creed.

I hope everyone had a fun St. Patrick's Day!

Fridays put me in a good mood

Friday is finally here! I've been dragging all week but today I'm in a good mood and ready for the weekend. I woke up this morning thinking it was Saturday. That was a sad moment, but I've rebounded!

The security guy at the front desk in our building is the nicest guy. He's always in a good mood and says hello to you. I believe his name is Preston, unless someone made that up and now we all assume that's his name.

My boss has left early and I'm pretty much caught up with work so I'm enjoying some internet time by checking out some amazing pictures on this livejournal. I would love to be traveling in New Zealand and Australia taking pictures.

I bought a new digital camera today. A Canon Powershot (just a point and shoot). Eventually I would like to get a digital SLR camera because I love taking pictures but I think I need to save some money for that as they can be a bit pricey.

My old digital camera will be going to my mom. She doesn't have one and my old one still works, I've just upgraded.

I think I'm going to head to the old building at the end of my Street and take some pictures. It's an interesting building and I keep meaning do that.

100th post and it's about Waltham

Wow this is the big 100 post! I'm going to eat a cookie to celebrate!

I figure I better have a good post for the big 1-0-0 so I'm going to talk a little about my home town (or city really)

I live a few cities over from Waltham and still have family and friends who live there. My cousin wanted to hang out the other night so I met her at Margaritas for some food and drinks. My cousin asks me if I want to go to this privately owned bar that a friend of hers was at. This was where they would hold a lot of our Jr. High dances (yes at a private bar/ghetto function hall). I'm up for anything so we headed over.

This bar is in an old concrete building and kind of sketchy looking. In fact I would not have known where the door was if I didn't go get my Jr. High dance on there back in the day.

My cousin's friend let's us in and I immediately want to run, run far far away. It's horribly smokey since you can smoke in private bars and it is full of white trash townies. I will proceed to list what happens during my hour stay:

  • Six month pregnant girl throwing back glasses of wine.
  • A janitor from my Jr. High trying to talk/hit on me. "You were there in 1997/1998? Me too!"
  • Cousin's friend telling us how her boyfriend's brother is moving in and she's just a little worried, "but only a little!" (boyfriend's brother is a well known drug dealer and is in jail for trying to kill his ex-girlfriend, he's been locked up so much he should just keep a set of handcuffs on)
  • Bad nu-metal blaring from the jukebox
  • Bartender with a hair style straight from 1991. Sweatshirt she was wearing might also have been from 1991

There was one positive thing there. BEER.

This bar is what my home town is like. If I still lived there I would have 4 kids by different guys and be working at the gas station down the street. Half of my graduating class still live at home with their parents with their kids. It's just sad!

Karma is a bitch

Everyone has been e-mailing me about U2 playing at the Somerville Theater tonight. I'm not too thrilled about this because now my commute home is going to be hell. Everyone and their mother will be in Davis and so the city is shutting down Davis Square. You can't buy tickets, you have to be invited by U2 (after my last post about U2 I think I'm off Bono's list) or you have to win the tickets.

How ironic, I admit to the blog world that I don't really like U2 and karma was like oh yea well enjoy they're coming to you city! Thanks karma.

When I got off the T yesterday the roadies were unloading and people were just standing there watching them unload and then the news people would ask the people watching stupid questions like "Do you think this is U2?" "Do you like U2?" How exciting!

I chose to visit my cousin in Waltham for some Mexican food. I have a little story about that which will be in an upcoming post. All I'm going to say is my home town is PRICELESS.

Friendsville: Population ME

I've been dating a new guy who is nice, cute, and we get along really well. BUT...I think we might be in or heading to the friends zone. We hang out but nothing happens and by nothing I mean it's like hanging out with my best girlfriend. We watch movies eat food and chat but that's it. We don't hug or kiss when we first see each other the only time we do kiss is when one of us is leaving and it's a quick kiss. Now because of this I'm starting to think of him as a friend so there's two things that could happen.

1. I tell him this and he agrees and we stay friends.
2. I tell him and he does not agree and is really upset

Talking with the BFF about it she seems to think that maybe he's thinking friends too. I mean a month of dating and he doesn't make a move makes you wonder. I'm ok with being friends so I really hope that this works out and he feels the same way.

Confession

I do not like U2. I think they're overrated. Sure they had some good hits back around the time I was born but now they're rhyming mole with hole and somehow selling records and having streets named after them.

People this is getting out of control! There is nothing spectacular about U2 and someone please tell Bono that he's from Ireland not California so please lose the sun glasses!

Actually, I just tried to find a picture of Bono without sunglasses and.....wow. GUYLINER!

Other things Bono should not wear:

Cowboy hats. Oh hey Bret Michaels!!

A tale of gay Edward Cullen and my ex

Last week Melissa and I went to this bar in a hotel called Mini Bar. We decided to class it up a little and try something new. While we're sipping our over priced wine we notice a guy walks in, not just any guy but a Robert Pattinson look alike (just a little gayer).

We can't control ourselves. We're giggle like twelve year old girls and keep looking over. I completely lose it when Melissa whispers "gay Edward Cullen is staring at you". Neither of us says anything to him. We finish our drinks and continue to laugh about it.

Flash forward to Saturday (about a week later), I get a text at 1 a.m. from Melissa telling me to come to the Tavern. I tell her I'm in bed already and the bar would be closed by the time I got there.

I check my phone in the morning and I have this text:

"Edward Cullen is at my house, he was at the Tavern! We went to GT and "DD" was checking id's at the door."

First of all, this bar is nowhere near the other bar we were at. It is completely random that she ran into him and then for her to run into my ex on the same night. Strange!

DD is a guy who I dated back in the summer and dumped me for no real good reason. I could have been walking into GT with gay Edward Cullen (who it seems is not gay) being like "yea you dumped me? We found an Edward Cullen jerk face!"

Melissa said DD said something awkward to them because he felt like a complete ass and very well should, for the way he dumped me (text message break up, OH YEA!)

And Edward Cullen is from Australia! I'm a sucker for accents (except Boston accents, sorry home boys). I'm hoping he'll be at the Tavern again, perhaps with Jasper making Edward Sissorhands faces?

Building a mystery

I have a little mystery happing in my house. I woke up this morning in the usual way which is my cat smacking me in the face with his paw. I get up and feed Boo and get ready to hop in the shower.

I pull back the curtain and it is like a scene from psycho (ok not that bad but it was unexpected). There is blood all in the bath tub. I stand there for a good three minutes not doing anything and trying to figure out what the hell happened.

Did my roommate cut herself? Probably not considering I shower before her and she would clean it.

Did my cat cut himself? He doesn’t go in the bathtub and he was sleeping on my bed all night. Also there is no blood anywhere else besides the tub.

Did Whitey Bulger kill someone in my tub? I do live very close to Winter Hill.

I had to clean it. I’m not taking a shower in that. So I’m naked in my tub with gloves and Ajax at 6 a.m. How was your morning?

The Oscars

I admit that I haven't seen most of the movies nominated this year but I still have some predictions. I'm going to make a little list

Cate Blanchett will win every Oscar because she always does even when she's not nominated.

Christian Bale will accept Heath's statue and then go on a verbal rampage when the Oscar "get off the stage" music starts playing.

Zac and Vanessa perform and even Hanson is like "this sucks!" Adults with no young kids are confused as to who these people are.

Kate Winslet announces her next movie is about a pregnant Nazi war criminal who flees on a boat that sinks in the Atlantic because she couldn't read.

Michael Jackson is inspired to become a priest after watching Doubt.

Megatron hands out the statues to spice things up

Hugh Jackman hosts as Wolverine. He rips open envelopes with his claws.

I fall asleep and look up who won the next morning online.

Filling my brain with YA fiction

I just started reading the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld. I found this series in the young adult section and even though I’m 25 I’m thoroughly enjoying it. The book is set in a dystopian future where once you turn 16 you undergo a surgery that makes you “pretty”. Everyone seems happy, everyone looks the same but it’s not all fine and dandy in New Pretty Town.

The characters are likable and the book is not too predictable (I’m looking at you Twilight). It’s set in the future but the technology is believable and interesting. I’m thinking I would really like a bungee jacket. The main character, Tally, can handle herself. Yea she makes mistakes but she doesn’t always have to have a man come to her rescue (she’s no Bella).

I’m on book two in the series which I’m enjoying even more than book one. I’m done with the Twilight comparisons. It’s just nice to not have to roll my eyes so much while reading a book, or ALL FOUR BOOKS.

The winter blahs

I've been saying since November that I'm done with winter. I totally admit being a baby about the cold. Yesterday I was walking home from the T and it was snowing. It wasn't just snowing there was also extreme wind blowing that snow directly into my face.

Today I just want to curl up in bed with some tea and a good book. Knowing that my office is always arctic in temperature is not motivating.

A little vino for V Day

Melissa and I are both single and decided to make the most of Valentines Day. Melissa had the idea of volunteering to feed the homeless. At first I wasn't in the mood which is horrible to say but I had so much to do this past weekend I just didn't have the time. I decided that I was being ridiculous and needed to do it.

It was in the basement of a church that had a questionable smell. It reminded me of CCD. We had no idea what we were suppose to do but everyone was really nice and helpful. Most of the homeless people were very nice and thankful but of course there were a few interesting comments. There was one man who told a pregnant woman she was having a bastard because she wasn't married and another man that got mad at me because I wouldn't give him more peas. I told him we had to wait fifteen minutes before we could give out seconds and I thought he was going to throw his plate at me.

We met some pretty cool volunteers that we hung out with at Whole Foods. Really, nothing was open on Valentines Day.

After our volunteering time we headed out to our Valentines Day "ball" in the city. I am officially done wearing dresses in the winter. I'm only going out dressed like the little brother in A Christmas Story.

Melissa and I decided it was a wine night. I lost my debit card on wine night. Actually Darryl lost my card because he decided to use it for Chinese food when I didn't even want Chinese food. Despite that we had a good time. It's nice to dress up once in a while but I think I'll wait for the spring to bust out a dress again.

Also a guy at the church asked me for my phone number, and yes it was a volunteer not a homeless person.

When candy hearts make promises

Happy Valentines Day! I may be single but I am getting dressed up and going out with my best friend for a night on the town. I hope you guys have a fabulous Valentines Day!

vintage

I love this blog, Sally Jane Vintage. I don't think I could pull off her look but I'm amazed at her thrift store finds. She also has links to pieces that she's selling on her eBay store.

I'm inspired to hit the thrift stores and see what I can find.

Back

I'm back from Texas and missing the warm weather. My brother is doing well and glad to be done with boot camp. I met some of the guys in his flight and they were all really nice. My mom and I adopted two of them and brought them with us around San Antonio since they didn't have family visiting.

This was my first trip to Texas. I went the Alamo which is right next to a mall and is a lot smaller than I was expecting. I found the mirror maze way more fun. I mean watching people run in to mirrors is pretty entertaining.

I have to say I don't think I would survive boot camp. I would probably cry and want to go home. I can't imagine running for ten miles in the hot sun with a huge pack on on two hours of sleep. No thanks. They all looked thin but obviously could kick my ass.

They all seemed paranoid even when they had a town pass which is when you can leave the base for a few hours. My brother and his friends were still walking in step with each other and called everyone sir and ma'am. Even when they were just standing there they stood as if they were at ease and not how you would normally stand. I pointed this out to my brother constantly. I'm your sister not ma'am!

The day I left I had a horrible stomach bug and was throwing up on the way to the airport, at the airport, on the plane...I think you get the picture. I couldn't hold anything down. The poor guy next to me was probably like, great thanks for putting me next to puke girl over here.

I have pictures but my laptop is having some issues so I'm not using my computer to update. I'm just a little addicted to the internet and not having my computer is driving me INSANE!

So pictures to come later. I'm glad to be home but not thrilled with the pile of work I'm attempting to get through.

Happy Birthday to me!

My co-workers sure know how to wish me a happy birthday.

"When were you born?"
"February 4, 1984"
"You were conceived on May 14th, 1983. Call your mother and ask when she got married."

I'm flying to Texas with a sinus infection. My body sure knows how to wish me a happy birthday.

I'm 25 today. I don't know how I feel about that. Well actually it makes me feel a little old.

I was just thinking back to my 10th birthday and how there was a horrible snow storm but my friends were all allowed to sleep over during the storm and I had a great time. I kind of want another birthday sleep over. This one would involve booze and not Ace of Base and Jolt soda.

Almost 25

I must be getting old because my tolerance for guys hitting on me is declining. Maybe I'm too old for this college town. I use to love faneuil hall but now I cringe when someone mentions the Bell in Hand. I feel like I'm playing a game called "who touched my butt". Oh it was the guy with the red sox hat? Well that narrows it down to 40 guys.

Really, there are some nice guys around here I just haven't found them yet. I think part of the problem is my type is the skinny jeans, tattoos, the "emo" and/or "rocker" hair and my best friend likes to go to the bars where the *red sox dudes hang out. She likes to call them "Brody boys" as in Brody Jenner from the Hills.

*No, I do not hate all guys who are red sox fans and I like the red sox. Just have to add that in before a crazy fan reads this and tracks me down to pour a beer on my head.

Sing us a song you're the piano man

A little late with the karaoke recap but it's been a busy week.

First I should tell you a little about the karaoke place we went to. It's not the classiest joint (I mean you have to smuggle your booze in a bag or giant purse) but you do get a private room and the song selection is pretty good.

I went with the "party" room because I wanted enough room for everyone. The party room was purple with disco balls, black lights, couches, tables and chairs, AND a piano. There was plenty of room for everyone. I think everyone had a blast, I know I did and I wish I was doing it again this weekend.

A few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Matt singing Welcome to the Jungle. Pretty amazing with the dance moves.

Not sure what's happening here but I love it

Jesse, Ashley, Melissa and Darryl belting it out

Ashley, me, Allie and Germana. We take our karaoke seriously!

Ashley and Carlos did the best rendition of Barbie Girl I've ever heard.

Allie and I did the Romy and Michelle dance to Time After Time.

Matt was Axel Rose complete with dance moves.

We all sung some Queen and all the girls sang I Kissed A Girl.

Good times all around.

Practicing my moves

I slept eleven hours last night. It was glorious. I was unexpectedly busy at work this week. Clients were coming out of the word work. "Hello, your firm divorced me in 1983 and I need this document." It was like that all week.

But now it's Saturday and I don't have to bust out the shovel. Tonight is my early birthday celebration. I rented a room at a karaoke place in Allston called Do Re Mi. It's so ghetto and awesome. It's the best place for karaoke in Boston. I have a few songs that I plan on singing. Here's the short list:

  • Gangster's Paradise - Coolio
  • Superman's Dead - Our Lady Peace
  • The Right Stuff - New Kids on the Block
  • Teenage Dirtbag - Wheetus
  • Just Dance - Lady Ga Ga
I love being surprised by what my friends pick.

It's going to be a toasty 6 degrees tonight. I'm starting to question global warming because I'm starting to feel like I live in Fargo.

Snowy adventures

I've had an interesting long weekend that consisted of Battlestar, movies, a bar, phone numbers, and digging my car out from the latest storm.

Battlestar was amazing. I'm so glad the show is back. There were quite a few surprises and I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of people killed off this season.

I saw Revolutionary Road which was a mini Titanic reunion. Kate, Leo and Kathy Bates were all in the movie. It's pretty depressing. I wasn't expecting that. Everyone else seemed to already know this. I just thought I would mention that in case there is someone else out there who did not know this.

I came to realize that I would be horribly depressed in that time period. No one says what they're really thinking because they're afraid of how they would look. You're placed into a role based on your gender and you really have no choice.

I got another bartender's phone number. Well actually he asked me for my phone number and then texted me. I also got a girl's phone number because we had a really fun time talking about Twilight. Her boyfriend was really nice too and they suggested we all hang out some time. Twilight, bringing drunk people in bars together.

The snow storm was unexpected. I looked out my window Sunday morning and was greeted by snow flying everywhere. All I could think of was NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! My arms are going to be jacked from all this shoveling.

I'm enjoying the last of my long weekend with some Phantom Planet and a nice cup of tea.

The sea creatures are on vacation

I was all excited about going to Sea World when I go to Texas next month but it turns out it's closed until the end of February. I'm secretly still ten years old and just want to see some whales and giant turtles.

Oh and I'm visiting my brother too.

It's starting again

Season 8 of American Idol starts tonight. To be completely honest I only watch the first round of auditions. Once they make it to Hollywood I'm done. I love watching the train wrecks, the Mariah wannabes and all the other bad people who audition but after that I lose interest.

This year they are supposedly cutting back on the bad auditions which I think is a big mistake. That's what people want to see!

Here's a list of changes that are happening to the show this season, some good, some bad. Cutting down the results show to a half hour. GOOD. No one needs Ryan Seacrest two hours a week.

I'm more excited for Battlestar! Is it Friday yet?

Pinky Out

My friend Melissa works for a country club and every year she brings me as her "date" to the annual tennis banquet. I'm always down for some free food even if it means dressing up on a Sunday.

We got eight inches of snow on Saturday night. I've had enough thank you, bring on summer. I broke my ice scraper so started karate chopping ice off my car. Maybe I'll move on to boards next since I'm so good with the ice.

The tennis courts are freezing cold and I'm shoving my face full of cheese because I'm STARVING. I discover that the white crackers taste like tea bags. No good. The tennis match was well played but all I could think of was my puffy red coat and some food.

We finally get to the banquet portion and stuff our faces full of more cheese products (mac and cheese, cheesy potatoes) and some salad to help balance all that cheese. I was boozed out from the weekend (snow makes me want to drink) so I didn't partake in the alcohol.

I drove Melissa home and by some miracle there was a spot near my house to park. City parking is hell in the winter! I tend to abandon my car if there's snow as to not lose my prime parking spot.

So that was my lovely Sunday spent with rich people in fur and fancy jewelery. It's nice to see what a posh country club is like but I felt out of place.

I'd also like to say that I hate fur. I don't understand why people wear it, it's pointless and disgusting.

Did you know

That an optical mouse works better on a black mouse pad? I had no idea

Also, if you jump into a panda's enclosure it will eat your leg?

Did you also know that this won't happen if you don't jump into a panda's enclosure in the first place.

The more you know, the more legs you get to keep people.

I can't make this stuff up

I've been a bit slow with the blogging but I've been doing very important things like getting suckered into hiring a personal trainer and then bailing after two sessions. I like being able to lift my arms and walk without looking like I'm going to cry from the pain or moving limbs.

Work has been surprisingly busy. We had news crews in the office yesterday which had people running around a bit. I don't really like to talk about my job in detail on the interents so I'll leave it at that.

I've also spent hours on this site. Pack up your vampire glitter and Edward pillow cases, who wants to go to TwiCon 2009! I'm still laughing. This is just out of control!

My New Years Eve aka my night of freezing my ass off

There's nothing like a snow storm to start off the new year. I wasn't going to let that stop me from wearing my red dress. I'm a New Englander! I'm built for the cold! (this is what I tell myself and it's such a lie).

Melissa and I had a few drinks at her place. We were reading from this awful trashy vampire book that a member at her work suggested to her. I highly suggest reading bad books while drinking beer.

We made it to our destination which was Tequila Rain. The coat check line was long and when we got to the front they were full. We had to go up to some other floor for our coat check.

I am not going back to Tequila Rain any time soon. They had two beer choices and we had two random creepy guys following us around the whole night. The guys were awful! We left early and headed to our normal haunt the Tavern. I ran into the bartender that I was dating. We're still friendly but our relationship is not going anywhere.

Melissa and I went back to her house and lost feeling in our toes. We ended the night with mac & cheese.

So not a bad night but next year I think I'm going to take it easy. No Tequila Rain.

Here's my dress. Yes I'm pale. I love red though.

Melissa and I. We were a little too sober for Tequila Rain.

Here's to hoping 2009 is even better than 2008

Favorites of '08 part 2

I'm not done with my favorites of 2008. I was planning to do separate posts but I'm just going to do the rest in one post.

TV Shows

Lost - My tv crack. I've missed you dearly and I can't wait for the new season to start!

Battlestar Galactica - This is not just some silly scifi show, this is an action packed, character driven space drama.

How I Met Your Mother - I jumped on the HIMYM band wagon late. I don't know what took me so long?! Will we ever find out who the mother is? Will we get more Robin Sparkles songs?

The Big Bang Theory - I wasn't expecting this show to be funny but I was wrong.

True Blood - I hucked the book at the wall because it was so ridiculous but the show is actually good.

I use to have Heros on my must see list but sadly it's a sinking ship and I'm jumping off.

Movies

The Dark Night - This movie was amazing. I remember when I first heard Heath Ledger was going to be the joker I thought it was a horrible casting choice. I was very wrong. Heath Ledger deserves to win that Oscar.

Pineapple Express - Stoner humor! My favorite scene is when James Franco tries to kick out the windshield and gets his foot stuck.

Tropic Thunder - Tom Cruise, you made me like you again for about 30 seconds.

In Bruges - This movie made me like Colliin Farrel. This is a great dark comedy and everyone who I've told to watch this has loved it. Seriously you need to see this move! You will be quoting it for weeks. If you watch it play a game I like to call how many people who have been in Harry Potter are in this movie?

Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr was great in this movie. This movie exceeded my expectations. I want an Iron Man suit!

Step Brothers - Will Farrell, don't stop being funny and making ridiculous movies.

Twilight - Yes, I'm a Twilight fan. I thought the movie was done well and followed the book pretty closely.

I apparently like the comedies.

Books

The Twilight Series by Stephanie Meyer - A little ridiculous at some parts I still enjoyed it. Hey it's better than when I use to read VC Andrews all the time (why!!)

Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert - When ever I'm feeling down I read this book. It reminds me that even when you're at the lowest of the lows it's never to late to do something about and change your life.

Bringing Down the House by Ben Mezrich - What these MIT students did is pretty impressive. I would get nervous for Ben while reading this. The book is better than the movie.

Love is a Mix Tape by Rob Sheffield - This book made me cry. I mean really cry. I like how he associates music with different times in his life because I do the same thing.

I read more than this but these are the books that I really enjoyed.

Favorite Music video:

Just Dance by Lady Ga GA. I want to be at a party with Lady Ga GA

Hope you all had a lovely New Years Eve. I'll post a picture of my dress later.
