I love this blog, Sally Jane Vintage. I don't think I could pull off her look but I'm amazed at her thrift store finds. She also has links to pieces that she's selling on her eBay store.
I'm inspired to hit the thrift stores and see what I can find.

Back
I'm back from Texas and missing the warm weather. My brother is doing well and glad to be done with boot camp. I met some of the guys in his flight and they were all really nice. My mom and I adopted two of them and brought them with us around San Antonio since they didn't have family visiting.
This was my first trip to Texas. I went the Alamo which is right next to a mall and is a lot smaller than I was expecting. I found the mirror maze way more fun. I mean watching people run in to mirrors is pretty entertaining.
I have to say I don't think I would survive boot camp. I would probably cry and want to go home. I can't imagine running for ten miles in the hot sun with a huge pack on on two hours of sleep. No thanks. They all looked thin but obviously could kick my ass.
They all seemed paranoid even when they had a town pass which is when you can leave the base for a few hours. My brother and his friends were still walking in step with each other and called everyone sir and ma'am. Even when they were just standing there they stood as if they were at ease and not how you would normally stand. I pointed this out to my brother constantly. I'm your sister not ma'am!
The day I left I had a horrible stomach bug and was throwing up on the way to the airport, at the airport, on the plane...I think you get the picture. I couldn't hold anything down. The poor guy next to me was probably like, great thanks for putting me next to puke girl over here.
I have pictures but my laptop is having some issues so I'm not using my computer to update. I'm just a little addicted to the internet and not having my computer is driving me INSANE!
So pictures to come later. I'm glad to be home but not thrilled with the pile of work I'm attempting to get through.

Happy Birthday to me!
My co-workers sure know how to wish me a happy birthday.
"When were you born?"
"February 4, 1984"
"You were conceived on May 14th, 1983. Call your mother and ask when she got married."
I'm flying to Texas with a sinus infection. My body sure knows how to wish me a happy birthday.
I'm 25 today. I don't know how I feel about that. Well actually it makes me feel a little old.
I was just thinking back to my 10th birthday and how there was a horrible snow storm but my friends were all allowed to sleep over during the storm and I had a great time. I kind of want another birthday sleep over. This one would involve booze and not Ace of Base and Jolt soda.

Almost 25
I must be getting old because my tolerance for guys hitting on me is declining. Maybe I'm too old for this college town. I use to love faneuil hall but now I cringe when someone mentions the Bell in Hand. I feel like I'm playing a game called "who touched my butt". Oh it was the guy with the red sox hat? Well that narrows it down to 40 guys.
Really, there are some nice guys around here I just haven't found them yet. I think part of the problem is my type is the skinny jeans, tattoos, the "emo" and/or "rocker" hair and my best friend likes to go to the bars where the *red sox dudes hang out. She likes to call them "Brody boys" as in Brody Jenner from the Hills.

Sing us a song you're the piano man
A little late with the karaoke recap but it's been a busy week.
First I should tell you a little about the karaoke place we went to. It's not the classiest joint (I mean you have to smuggle your booze in a bag or giant purse) but you do get a private room and the song selection is pretty good.
I went with the "party" room because I wanted enough room for everyone. The party room was purple with disco balls, black lights, couches, tables and chairs, AND a piano. There was plenty of room for everyone. I think everyone had a blast, I know I did and I wish I was doing it again this weekend.
A few pictures for your viewing pleasure.
Ashley and Carlos did the best rendition of Barbie Girl I've ever heard.
Allie and I did the Romy and Michelle dance to Time After Time.
Matt was Axel Rose complete with dance moves.
We all sung some Queen and all the girls sang I Kissed A Girl.
Good times all around.

Practicing my moves
I slept eleven hours last night. It was glorious. I was unexpectedly busy at work this week. Clients were coming out of the word work. "Hello, your firm divorced me in 1983 and I need this document." It was like that all week.
But now it's Saturday and I don't have to bust out the shovel. Tonight is my early birthday celebration. I rented a room at a karaoke place in Allston called Do Re Mi. It's so ghetto and awesome. It's the best place for karaoke in Boston. I have a few songs that I plan on singing. Here's the short list:
It's going to be a toasty 6 degrees tonight. I'm starting to question global warming because I'm starting to feel like I live in Fargo.

Snowy adventures
I've had an interesting long weekend that consisted of Battlestar, movies, a bar, phone numbers, and digging my car out from the latest storm.
Battlestar was amazing. I'm so glad the show is back. There were quite a few surprises and I get the feeling there's going to be a lot of people killed off this season.
I saw Revolutionary Road which was a mini Titanic reunion. Kate, Leo and Kathy Bates were all in the movie. It's pretty depressing. I wasn't expecting that. Everyone else seemed to already know this. I just thought I would mention that in case there is someone else out there who did not know this.
I came to realize that I would be horribly depressed in that time period. No one says what they're really thinking because they're afraid of how they would look. You're placed into a role based on your gender and you really have no choice.
I got another bartender's phone number. Well actually he asked me for my phone number and then texted me. I also got a girl's phone number because we had a really fun time talking about Twilight. Her boyfriend was really nice too and they suggested we all hang out some time. Twilight, bringing drunk people in bars together.
The snow storm was unexpected. I looked out my window Sunday morning and was greeted by snow flying everywhere. All I could think of was NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! My arms are going to be jacked from all this shoveling.
I'm enjoying the last of my long weekend with some Phantom Planet and a nice cup of tea.
